390 years ago today, Blaise Pascal, the French mathematician and philosopher was born in 1623. At age eleven, he showed an amazing aptitude for math and science and later, in an effort to ease his father's endless calculations and recalculations of taxes owed and paid, Pascal constructed a mechanical calculator. He philosophized that all men's miseries derive from not being able to sit in a quiet room alone."

Charitable Giving Grew in 2012 - Both Corporate and Personal

Individual charitable giving in the United States grew almost 4 percent last year, while corporate donations rose at triple that rate, according to the annual Giving USA report. - Reuters
