Benefits of Good News

GNN has really changed the way I see the world. A few months ago I realized that I was getting really bogged down by all the terror and destruction that hit me first thing in the morning, and throughout my day. Now, with the Good News Network set as my homepage, I see first the good that goes on in the world and my attitude and state of mind are much better.

Editor's Blog: Contact Form Out of Order, July 4-9

Gnn editorFor the few people who used my contact form to send me a message between July 3-July 9, I didn't receive it. The mail server on my isp was "acting up", bouncing e-mail messages and, then, deleting some mail while I watched the screen in disbelief. (Have you ever heard the song by Todd Rundgren, I Hate My Fricken' ISP?) Anyway, I'm moving to a different hosting company within the week and will make a special announcement regarding the fact. For now, resend your messages!

Happy Independence Day to all Americans!
Do you remember the French newspaper headline the day after 9/11: We Are All Americans Now... I hope we can rekindle that feeling of community around the world, because Americans deserve to be thought of with warmth. Despite our government's dreadful mistakes over the years, the torch still burns faintly, the reminder that we can lead wisely, we can bring hope, we can embrace the world. I thank our lucky stars for the confluence of brave and thoughtful farmers and craftsmen who landed in Boston and Philadelphia and Jamestown as settlers, who spoke out for religious rights, freedom of speech and independence of thought...

News Anchor Refuses to Read Paris Hilton Story in On-Air Protest

EDITOR'S BLOG - Mika Brzezinski is my new hero! The MSNBC anchorwoman refused to read a Paris Hilton story chosen as the lead for her morning newscast this week. This video shows her trying to burn the script and finally ripping it, and later shredding an updated copy. The public protest against her editors' news judgement has brought her praise from both viewers and media professionals alike. She says, "I had one woman send me an email that said she was weeping tears of joy that someone finally took a stand... We were making a statement on our show. I hope it will start to change something... We need to have an open discussion about what is news and what is not."

This edited version of Brzezinski's on-air protest has been viewed more than 1.3 million times on YouTube.

EDITOR'S BLOG — I am in Las Vegas — not to gamble or see a show — to attend a 4-day Success Seminar with a leading business and personal coach... I'll share more later, but I wanted to let you know there won't be as many stories published this week. For now, I'm going to stretch out on the floor of this enormous room at the remodeled Hilton and start my day with yoga. I'll try to get some stories up by the day's end...
