Thousands of U.S. veterans have returned from Iraq and Afghanistan maimed and disfigured, their lives forever changed. The National Theatre Workshop of the Handicapped worked with two dozen veterans
of U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan this summer, in hopes of helping them work
through their emotions and feelings of loss...

Tending to your soul at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Boise,
Idaho, involves recycling old cell phones and printer cartridges in the
church lobby, pulling noxious weeds in the backcountry and fixing
worn-out hiking trails in the mountains. This is part of the ministry
of Tri Robinson, a former biology teacher whose rereading of the Bible
led him to the belief that Christians focused on Scripture need to
combat global warming and save the Earth. (AP)

Kyle found out her fiance was cheating on her six weeks before her lavish wedding was to draw friends and relatives from around the country... But rather than cancel the reception, planned for this Saturday in
Vermont, Ms. Paxman, 29, has turned it into a charity benefit, at which
strong women will be celebrated. “How do you turn something so awful
around?” she said. “We needed to turn this into something positive and

The Purpose Prize honors "what may be a new trend -- retirees taking on some of
the country's biggest social problems." The five winners of the first-ever Purpose
Prize, announced today, all 60 years or older, will split half a million dollars... "The finalists
include a used-car salesman who now provides low-interest car loans to
the poor, a retired CEO who helps poor kids get to college, and a woman
who uses her antique store to give job training to people who have some
of the worst job prospects." ...
