From Treehugger comes a report about a yo-yo powered MP3 player. "The inventors estimate
that between 10-12 tosses per hour are sufficient for continuous music
play. A wireless headset allows the user to listen to music while yo-yoing." Cool.

Aaron Taylor, the All-America offensive lineman from Notre Dame who played six
years in the National Football League, just gave up his high paying TV job at
ABC Sports to focus on making meaningful
contributions to society:
"Instead of providing halftime analysis on Saturdays this fall,
Taylor will stay home in San Diego and serve on the board of a
mentoring organization called "Boys to Men," help do fundraising for
the YMCA, and provide assistance in other ways for children and
education." He says he is doing what will make him feel good. The full story at Contra Costa Times reminds us that many pro athletes help others -- and feel great about it!

Peacemaker
is a new video game about the conflict in the Middle East that let's
players assume the roles of either the Israeli prime minister or
Palestinian president. It sparks empathy for the other side among
college students who are testing the game in tandem with Carnegie
Mellon University, and developers. Arab and Jewish students discover
that bringing peace to the region is tricky, takes time and tact, and
sometimes many failed attempts...

The World of Warcraft online forum chronicles the outpouring of
generosity and goodwill by a gaming guild
who came to the aid of one of its members. The group raised money for a
fellow gamer who'd been attacked not by a minion of the legion, but by
a tumor the size of a softball.
When the state, charities, governor, news agencies, senators and
even the president of the united states did not respond to my familys
pleas for help to keep a roof over our head, and the power
company from shutting us off and food on
the table for my kids, my
