Telecommuting Success Honored

AT&T is the 2001 recipient of the Vision for America Award for its environmentally sound workplaces. Through AT&T’s telework program, employees who telecommuted from home avoided driving 110 million miles, eased traffic congestion, eliminated pollution from greenhouse emissions of almost 50,000 tons of carbon dioxide, and saved 5.1 million gallons of gas. Additionally, teleworkers saved AT&T about $100 million a year due to increased productivity, and about $25 million a year in reduced office space. Teleworkers report increased loyalty and job satisfaction.

The award is presented by Keep America Beautiful, Inc. whose non-profit network motivates millions of volunteers to beautify neighborhoods around the world.
