For 29 years, Father’s Day was just another Sunday for Terrell Starr, but it’s now a day to celebrate with a father who didn’t know he existed for nearly three decades.
Starr grew up in a rough part of Detroit under the care of his grandmother, with a mother off in the military. Meanwhile, his father, also in the military did not even know he had a son. He had been shipped off the base and Terrell’s mother was never able to track him down.
Then came the world of the internet and social media.
Terrell, having earned a scholarship to college and two masters degrees, decided to type his father’s name on Facebook, with the title ‘Looking for Father’.
Today the two are more like brothers than father and son.
