The CeaseFire program, a Chicago-based violence prevention group has received a $1.7 million grant to expand onto the streets of Baltimore, Cincinnati and Newark, N.J., using former gang members and ex-convicts to mediate conflicts and reach out to conflicted youths caught up in gangs.
