First of all, stories must always be compelling, not boring!

They also must exhibit several of the following characteristics:

1. Opposing groups find common ground and move forward together
2. Shows compassion or understanding toward others
3. Breaks stereotypes of any group
4. Exhibits love, non-violence, generosity, peaceful conflict resolution, or caring
5. Features solutions to problems, while exhibiting the characteristics above
6. Efforts to support the sustainability of our planet

If you want to contribute good news as a citizen journalist, imagine you are a real reporter for Good News Network-International. Provide the facts -- Who, What, When, Where, How and Why -- but make your first sentances the most compelling. You need a hook here, to engage the readers. Often, it works well to state the probem, and then, how it was solved (within 2-3 sentances) then give the details in the body of the story. I look forward to reading your submissions!
