A police officer named Terry Joyner has formed a bond of trust and goodwill with a homeless clan camped out in some back woods on the outskirts of Atlanta.
They trade cell numbers, go by first names and greet each other warmly. He sees no harm in showing these woods dwellers in North Fulton some amity and sees benefit to having more allies, with eyes and ears on the street.
“These people are part of the community I serve,” he said. “They are good folks, just down on their luck.”
