What did California senior Nicole Minkina do on her summer vacation?
The San Clemente teen traveled 6,000 miles to her homeland of Belarus to introduce her school's drug- and alcohol-prevention program to five high schools there.
"It's a huge club at my school," Minkina said. "We go into middle school and teach eighth-graders the harms of drugs and alcohol."
She was moved to export her Catholic schools' peer-to-peer program across the ocean because her father's addiction took a toll on her family.
