Friday and Saturday were busy days at a once-abandoned warehouse -- now the Helmetta Regional Animal Shelter -- as rescued Shih Tzus were adopted by caring families from all over New Jersey.
The big industrial building was sitting empty until the town decided to make it into a shelter.
Luckily too, because "Shih Tzu chaos" ensued when each of the 63 dogs needed a thorough bath and combing to ready them for adoption.
The neglected dogs were taken away from the home of a dog breeder who was failing to care of all the animals single-handedly.
There may still be dogs available.
