A father turned his grief over the senseless murder of his son, a promising college student, into an institution of hope, healing and forgiveness. He forgave the 14 year-old boy, who murdered his son over the price of a pizza, the youngest child in California ever incarcerated as an adult for murder.
In his grief the father had realized he was not the only one who lost a son — the boy who was now imprisoned for life also was taken from his family — so he reached out to the boy’s grandfather and formed a unique bond of kinship. Together they speak to young people about the consequences of gangs and violence on behalf of a new foundation, named after the young man whose life was ended only to become a catalyst for unlimited good.
