Free McCartney Concert on iTunes Tonight: New Renditions of Old Jazz Standards

Paul McCartney Kisses On the Bottom - album artPaul McCartney will perform selections from his new album Kisses on the Bottom in a live video streaming concert tonight, with downloads of the show available to people who buy the CD. The new LP released three days ago features a collection of favorite standards from Paul’s childhood, as well as two brand new McCartney compositions.

The live streaming performance takes place at 7:00 p.m. PST (10:00 p.m. EST)  from the famed Capitol Studios in Los Angeles where much of the new album was created. Fans can watch the intimate concert through iTunes on their Mac or PC (or on Apple TV).

The two new songs, “My Valentine” and “Only Our Hearts” feature guest stars Eric Clapton on guitar and Stevie Wonder on harmonica. 3-time Grammy-winning jazz vocalist Diana Krall and her band recorded the album with Paul and will join him in-studio tonight.

The choice of oldies for the album, including, “I’m Gonna Sit Down And Write Myself”, “Bye Bye Blackbird”, and “Ac-cent-tchu-ate the Positive,” provide a deeply personal journey through songs that a young Paul first heard his musician-father perform on the family piano.

The February 9th Capitol Studios streaming event will be the first time ever that the the songs from Kisses on the Bottom will be brought to life in a live setting. (Click to watch the LIVE concert on iTunes)

The deluxe version of the CD comes packaged with a download card of this performance to be redeemed after the event. The standard CD contains 14 tracks but no download card.

There are two versions of the deluxe CD. The first contains the standard CD plus the download, and the second (available exclusively at Target stores in the U.S. or at paulmccartney.com) contains a 16-track CD that adds the two bonus tracks “My One And Only Love” and “Baby’s Request”  — a new version of the Wing’s track from the 1979 album Back To The Egg.
