Singapore's minister said that the country's efforts at encouraging stronger inter-ethnic ties have led to people of different races and backgrounds enjoying one another's culture and traditions. (ChannelNewsAsia) If it works for Singapore, why not in the USA or France? I need to join in with my family at a fiesta!
 

Uzbekistan Abolishes the Death Penalty

The trend towards total abolition of the death penalty has continued with Uzbekistan becoming the latest country to put an end to executions. From 1 January 2008, it becomes the 135th country in the world to abolish the death penalty in law or practice. Capital punishment has now been replaced with life or long-term imprisonment. (Amnesty International)

Almost everything about the new Bank of America skyscraper in New York is environmentally green, from the roof that catches rainwater, to the underground parking garage, which because it is non-existent, will never be encouraging people to drive in Manhatten. (ABC News -Thanks to Alex for the link!) The bank will also be investing billions of dollars in other green projects, like new sustainable businesses. (GNN)

"Scientists have created a device that can make human teeth grow back. The tiny ultrasound machine fits into a patient's mouth and gently massages gums stimulating dental growth from the root. It should be available to the public within 2 years." (Scotsman)
