Max Siepert donates to police dept-FBA young contributor who anonymously dropped off $10.03 at a Wisconsin police department after the anniversary of 9/11 has been identified as 11-year-old Max Siepert.

The sixth-grader said he learned about the Sept. 11 attacks in school and heard about all the good deeds that are done on that date. He had been collecting money since April and decided what to do with it.

Max’s grandfather, it turns out, was a Milwaukee police officer who was killed in the line of duty in 1974. Max rode his bike to the police station without his parents’ knowledge to give the money in his grandfather’s honor. He definitely didn’t expect any attention.

On their Facebook Page the Greenfield Police Department posted the surveillance video of the mystery boy approaching the desk and handing over the money. Eventually they discovered the boy’s name and thanked him publicly. Local news reporters jumped on the story.

Max told WTMJ-TV news, “If every person would do that, we would have such a great world. It would be awesome!”

Well, thanks to Max, other people are doing it now.

After seeing the story shared on Facebook, the police station has collected other donations.

“We are also sending our $10.03 donation to Max’s favorite police station,” posted Arkansas resident Jeannie Brungardt on Facebook. “You are inspiring people all over the United States to donate.”

  1. What a great kid! Sometimes I think that a large percentage of the current generation is out of touch with the truly important things in life (through no fault of their own, by the way), but then I see a youngster like Max! Thanks a lot Max, you’ve helped restore my faith in today’s youth!
