Strong Signs of Life for US Job Market Reported Yesterday

Classified ads by Kevin P. at MorguefilePrivate sector payrolls soared in December — even with a seasonal adjustment — while downsizing sank, two separate reports showed Wednesday in a strong indication of a brightening U.S. jobs picture.

Private companies employed almost 300,000 more people with small and medium-sized businesses leading the advance, the biggest gain since the report was first issued by ADP in 2000.

Tallying up the entire year of 2010 showed the lowest number for for job cuts in 13 years, a plunge of 59% following 2009, when job cuts reached a seven-year high.
