"U.S. experts say they have strong scientific proof that mind over matter works for relieving pain: Positive thinking was as powerful as a shot of morphine for relieving pain and reduced activity in parts of the brain that process pain information." (BBC) More proof that GNN-i is VALUABLE for you and your family — and their health! — Thanks, Andrew for the link.

  1. Hi Geri and thanks to Andrew for the great link. It is nice to see more and more scientific proof coming out to support what motivational speakers such as myself have been saying for years.

Here is a recent One Minute Motivator of mine that relates to the health benefits of positive thinking and is somewhat related to this report:
“New Research from the National Academy of Science shows that too much caution can kill. Individuals who fear novelty-scientists call them ?neophobes?-are likely to die at an earlier age than those unafraid to change. The hormonal rush that accompanies fear spurs a full body response and over the long- term it puts a strain on your body, compromising the immune system, destroying brain cells, hardening arteries, interrupting sleep and accelerating aging. “

OK, thanks again for your great work, Ed Smith.

  2. Thank you Andrew and Geri for the article! Yes, there’s so much to positive thinking, and thoughts in general, that scientists are just beginning to uncover. Positive thoughts do make a world of difference in everything from pain relief to self-confidence to warding off anxiety. I’m glad to see scientists starting to validate what wise people have known through the ages!
