Supermodels Raise Money for Solar Power in Africa

Recreation - Celebrities

Fashion-model-Stella-Mccartney-dressSupermodels have joined forces to create a charity initiative that draws upon the generosity of the international fashion community to raise money for solar lighting installations and health clinics in Africa.

Supermodel Elettra Wiedemann is the co-founder of OneFrickinDay.org, the website where charity is modeled, and high fashion is harnessed.

Cindy Crawford, Iman, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, Heidi Klum, Brooke Shields, Tyra Banks, Elle Macpherson, and others have donated their favorite dresses for a celebrity auction that also features exclusive experiences and hook-ups.

All proceeds from the auction, conducted at CharityBuzz.com, will benefit chosen charities like the Solar Electric Light Fund (SELF).

SELF provides solar power for clinics to help keep vaccines cold, pump and purify water, and turns on the lights. They spread solar power into community homes to replace polluting and unhealthy stoves.

One Fricken Day calls on everyone to give just "one fricken day" of time or income to "ease the guilt of not doing enough".
