A horror crash almost cut the racing driver in half - but now he's back and has won two gold medals in handcycling at the paralympic games in London.
Alex Zanardi astounded doctors by surviving the 220mph smash which sliced him in half.
The story of the ex-Formula One driver, even among Paralympic triumphs of humanity over disaster, is one of the most heartwarming tales of London 2012.
