Feeding her two major passions for books and volunteering, a 54-year-old mother from Georgia has become the unheralded star of a project called Books for Soldiers.
In the last three years, Kathy Testa has fulfilled requests for books and DVDs from nearly 700 deployed soldiers, including some made on behalf of Afghan and Iraqi children.
For sending her “Care Packages for the Mind”, she was named one of this year’s Holiday Heroes by a major US newspaper.
