Decades ago when racial unrest plagued Boston and the nation, a white fireman rescued a black baby from a burning building and a poignant photograph ran in newspapers across the country.
Evangeline Anderson, now grown, had searched all her life to find the fireman and thank him.
Recently, with the help of a Boston Globe reporter, they were reunited. The story drew the highest number of hits ever recorded on the newspaper’s website.
