Macedonians took a day off work on Friday to plant seven million trees in the landlocked Balkan country after raging fires destroyed about 86,500 acres (35,000 hectares) of greenery in 2008.
About seven million saplings — mostly cypresses and pine trees — were planted at around 80 sites throughout the country.
