Today, American Express announced an additional $10 million in funding for their Partners in Preservation program. Launched in 2006, the program awards grants in cities across the country to keep historical sites open and save the places that matter most to people — like the Old North Church in Boston.
In a pioneering experiment, a California woman became the first person to have embryonic stem cells injected into her brain to try and cure her lethal cancer.
Dr. Karen Aboody in Los Angeles has been working on the ground-breaking procedure developed for patients with the very worst brain tumors called glioblastomas. With stem cells, she created the first treatment ever designed for this invasive, deadly cancer.
