Orders to U.S. factories for big-ticket manufactured goods unexpectedly rose in February, increasing 3.4 percent, contradicting economists who had expected a 2 percent drop. It was the strongest one-month gain in 14 months. Demand rose for military aircraft and parts, machinery, computers and fabricated metal products.
