Two former loyalist paramilitary groups in Northern Ireland – the Ulster Volunteer Force and Red Hand Commando – have rendered all their weapons and explosives “totally beyond use,” confirmed Northern Ireland Security Minister Paul Goggins.
The Reverend Harold Good said that the move “cements our peace process”.
The decommissioning marks a significant further step in the Northern Ireland Peace Process which began with the Good Friday Agreement in 1998.
