A planned $20 million retrofit of the skyscraper will save $4.4 million a year in energy costs, reduce the building’s energy consumption by nearly 40 percent and cut its carbon output, according to the Rocky Mountain Institute. 

Planners believe it is a model for retrofitting an existing building.
