Some persistent dolphins are being credited with saving a dog that had run away in Florida. The dog’s owner said he had been missing for 15 hours — and it would have been longer if the dolphins hadn’t alerted the neighbors.
“If he had to tread water all night long, I know he wouldn’t have been able to,” Cindy Burnett said from her home on Marco Island.
PepsiCo’s work with corn farmers in Jalisco, Mexico, reflects a new approach by corporations trying to maintain a business edge while helping out small communities.

Heinz’s ketchup bottles haven’t changed at all since plastic was first used for the iconic containers in 1983. Now the bottles are set to get a green makeover, courtesy of Coca-Cola.

Toys”R”Us yesterday announced the launch of its nine-week in-store fundraising campaign to benefit Autism Speaks, North America’s largest autism science and advocacy organization.The company will collect donations in its stores and online through April 30 and provide a $400,000 grant to kick off its fifth annual campaign.

As honorary chairmen, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton will oversee the institute, which named as its first priority to create a document of “best practices” for political discourse.
Former Supreme Court justice Sandra Day O’Connor and former Senate majority leader Thomas A. Daschle (D-S.D.) will serve as honorary co-chairmen. Board members will include former secretary of state Madeleine K. Albright; Kenneth M. Duberstein, chief of staff to President Ronald Reagan; Fox News anchor Greta Van Susteren; Trey Grayson, director of Harvard University’s Institute of Politics; and former representative Jim Kolbe (R-Ariz.).
