  1. Very refreshing to see that conservation can win out over oil and gas exploration and production. This news therefore has a significant environmental spin off in that the fossil fuels that will remain in the ground will not be pumped into the air in the form of greenhouse gasses. I have been working with an environmental group for the past 17 years and one of our biggest ongoing battles has been to fight oil and gas exploration and production in the St. Lawrence River. It has been a roller-coaster ride of hope and despair as we try to raise public awareness to counter hidden federal and provincial government agendas to develop the sea floor of endangered whale habitat.
    This news from south of the border demonstrates that there may be a wind of change blowing that could alter priorities so that future generations have a … future!
