A huge landfill site in Essex, containing waste from six London boroughs, has been transformed into a 120-acre nature reserve.
The Thurrock Thameside Nature Park at Mucking, which now lies on top of 50 years of waste, has been restored to grasslands, woodland, ponds and reedbeds.
Today it is a haven for bees, birds and reptiles.
