The Story Behind This Hospital Employee Who Was Named DarthVader at Birth

Darthvader Williamson may sound like a made-up name – but it’s actually the name on this guy’s birth certificate.

Darthvader’s father, who was given the final vote on what to name his son, went with the Star Wars pseudonym as an homage to the movie trilogy antagonist.

Darthvader, who is a surgery technician at Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett in Memphis, Tennessee, has received hundreds of requests for photos and autographs from visitors and patients who have discovered his unusual name.

He says he doesn’t mind, although, ironically, he claims not to be that big of a Star Wars fan.

But the birth name is reportedly quite helpful in making his younger patients smile.
