Here's another story about a 3-year-old diagnosed with autism. She hadn't been performing the "normal" tasks like speaking, playing, and interacting with others, but beneath the facade was a mind and personality busy with other talents.
Iris Grace Halmshaw has benefitted from therapy, since her diagnosis in 2011. Her anxiety levels and sleep are much improved. Painting is one of the talents that have come pouring forth as a result. Rather than talking, she can express herself through art.
Reminiscent of Monet, the little girl's ethereal artwork has amazed not only her parents, but others who have looked at her work.
The Halmshaws decided to set up a website to "share her art and to raise awareness with other families in similar situations."
"We realized about three months ago she is actually really talented," said Mrs. Halmshaw of Market Harborough, England. "Inquiries to buy her paintings were flooding in from all over the world."
Profits from additional sales of her paintings will go toward art supplies and therapy.
She beams with excitement whenever her parents get out the paints so presumably the painting will continue.
