Employees at a food bank in Phoenix were left scratching their heads when they saw an entire Uhaul truck of donated diapers arrive at their location, knowing that a middle-schooler was behind the enormous load.
It was the collected proceeds of 12-year-old Sloan’s 5th annual “Diaper Drive,” an event she has been organizing since she was just 7, and which this year set a target of 22,500 diapers for donation.
Yet the Huggies, Pampers, and Blueys kept pouring in until there was hardly any room even to walk around in her house. By the end of the drive, Sloan had collected 30,000 disposable diapers to donate to Nourish Phoenix, a food and clothing bank that Sloan volunteered at all those years ago.
While stocking food parcels, she noticed a section of the shelves at Nourish Phoenix’s location at 510 on 9th Avenue was bare.
Asking why the empty space, she was told that it was where the diapers were, that they were always among the most requested items, and that they had already run out.

“If we have the ability to give someone something that they might not have or need, it’s really important to do that,” she said in an interview with ABC 15 as her diaper drive concluded at the close of August
“My little girl: she’s just so special, she has such a big heart, loves helping and giving back,” said Sloan’s proud mother.
