A Sicilian hotel recently went above and beyond the call of the reception bell in reuniting a young woman with a cherished childhood stuffed animal.
Visiting the Four Seasons in Taormina recently was a mother and her daughter Julia—who as always brings her dear stuffed animal, Rosie, on any trip.
After a lovely stay, Julia suffered a case of out-of-sight out-of-mind after Rosie was swept up with the bedding by the housekeepers and was forgotten.
Sending a message to the hotel, the mother explained the situation and attached a photo of Rosie, after which there was nothing left to do but wait and hope. Would Rosie be able to survive inside an industrial wash/dry cycle? Maybe the staff had just thrown her away.
As it turned out, Rosie just wasn’t ready to end her vacation, photos from the hotel staff showed which Julia’s older sister documented on her TikTok account in a viral post viewed by millions of people.
In all seriousness, the staff not only located Rosie, but spent who-knows-how-much time to create this grand gesture of pretending the stuffed animal had spent her days at the pool, at the bar, and in bed. The hotel even wrote Julia in a letter in Rosie’s words, which they mailed her together with the plushie while covering the shipping costs.
“Dear my special friend,” the letter wrote. “When we got separated at the beautiful San Domenico Palace, I was a little worried at first, but the kind people at the hotel took very good care of me while I waited for you.”
