An Affenpinscher named Banana Joe, took center stage winning Best in Show at the prestigious 137th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, the first time an Affenpinscher has won Best in Show at Westminster since the breed’s recognition in 1938.
A 5-year-old veteran of the ring who’s lapped up 85 other Best in Show wins throughout his career, Banana Joe was chosen as the top dog from among 2,721 canines — the show’s largest number of entries in 15 years.
Making the finals were an American Foxhound, an Old English Sheepdog, German Wirehaired Pointer, a Bichon Frises, a Smooth Fox Terrier, and a Portuguese Water Dog, which is the breed of the Obama family dog, Bo.
