England village streetThe Norfolk area of Broadland has been named the most “peaceful” area of the UK.

The tranquil district, which has a population of about 125,000, had only eight violent crimes reported in 2012 — about a third of the national average.

A largely rural area north-east of Norwich, Broadland includes some of the city’s suburbs along with picturesque villages and handsome market towns.

“The local people are watching out for each other,” said one resident.
