You never know who – or what – you will run into on the subway; whether it’s a dynamic duo of escaped farm animals or famed actor and comedian Jon Stewart.

Two wayward goats were able to have a chance encounter with the former The Daily Show host while on the tracks of the N subway line in Brooklyn earlier this week.

Presumably sick of waiting for the train, the goats were walking along the tracks when they were spotted by New York City’s transit authorities.

The two runways were munching on grass near the tracks when they were tranquilized by police so they could be moved safely.

A rescue team from the Farm Sanctuary arrived to transport the goats – and the team included none other than Stewart and his wife Tracy.

The comedian and his wife have been supporters of the sanctuary since 2015, owning a farm in New Jersey which also serves as a home for abused animals. The star-struck goats, who are now nicknamed Willy and Billy, were taken to the Watkins Glen sanctuary in New York where a spokeswomen stated: “There, they will receive medical examinations and the world-class, individualized care.”
