Things weren’t going too swimmingly for ‘Purps’ the penguin after an injury to one of her ankle tendons left her with a heavy limp.

Thankfully, a team of tech-savvy kids from Connecticut’s Mystic Middle School crafted the perfect solution.

Using a newly-funded 3D-printer, the middle schoolers designed an orthotic boot for the 23-year-old African penguin, which now allows her to waddle freely without being weighed down by a cast.
