A high school teacher in Sandy Springs, Georgia, got an unexpected surprise on her way to work earlier this month.
“It was a pretty wild story,” she told GNN—and it happened just in time to celebrate her Halloween wedding anniversary.
“My husband and I were driving to pick up birthday cupcakes for my journalism students when another driver started honking at us.” Apparently, there was something hanging underneath our car.”
“That something turned out to be a tiny black kitten trapped in the suspension,” said Nicole.
They called for emergency help so they could continue driving without putting their feline friend at risk.
It took three firefighters and two police officers to rescue the stubborn little stowaway that weighed just over a pound (544g).
“We took him straight to the vet,” she reported, where they learned he was less than seven weeks old.
Naturally, because the couple was married on Halloween, she and Brandon decided it was fate that brought the black cat across their path, and immediately took it home.
“Adopting a tiny black kitten in October feels especially fitting!”

“We couldn’t just send him on his way.”
They named him Friday Shadow and welcomed him into their family.
The couple, above all, wanted to share their story to spread some love for ‘the helpers’.
“These wonderful first responders should get some recognition for going above and beyond to save such a tiny life.”
“Somehow, this tiny black kitten managed to show up just in time to become the most unexpected anniversary present we could have imagined.”
