After a noise complaint was filed against some youths playing a rousing game of basketball in the street last week, a cop became an overnight celebrity when his patrol car’s dashcam revealed that he joined the kids in their game instead of breaking it up. He had promised to return for a rematch Saturday, but this time he brought some amazing back-up — basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal.

Gainesville, Florida officer Bobby White was the one who responded Thursday to the complaint of a “loud” bunch of kids playing basketball. His department applauded the officer’s decision saying, “Let kids be kids.”

His generous treatment of the youth won him a lot of fans — including “Shaq”, the four-time National Basketball Association champ who showed up at the police station Saturday to surprise the officer.
