Despite having cerebral palsy, Justin Gallegos has spent the last seven years pursuing his passion for running – and his hard work has finally paid off.

Gallegos has just become the first athlete with cerebral palsy to sign a professional contract with Nike.

In a heart-wrenching new video that was filmed by Elevation Om productions, Gallegos is surprised with the contract after finishing a running practice with his University of Oregon team.

Overcome with emotion, the 21-year-old athlete breaks down in tears and sinks to his knees.

The video was symbolically published on October 6th: World Cerebral Palsy Day.

“This was perhaps the most emotional moment in my seven years of running!” Gallegos wrote on Instagram. “Growing up with a disability, the thought of becoming a professional athlete is as I have said before like the thought of climbing Mt. Everest! It is definitely possible, but the odds are most definitely not in your favor! Hard work pays off!”
