You can now help your favorite animal shelter or rescue center by doing something as simple as giving a high-five.

Cat Pawsitive, a life-saving program that uses positive reinforcement to train felines to be more sociable, is hosting its first annual National High-Five Day Shelter Contest.

The contest is asking cat owners and shelter volunteers around the country to upload photos or videos of their feline’s high-five to social media. The organizations running the contest will pick out their favorite posts and select them for a chance to win thousands of dollars in cash grants and 10,000 free bowls of organic pet food for their local animal shelter.

Have you never trained your cat to give high-fives? No problem – Cat Pawsitive has published free downloadable instructions on how to teach your cat to high-five.

The program, which is sponsored by the Jackson Galaxy Project, will judge the submissions on April 19th: National High-Five Day.

To submit, simply publish a photo or video of your cat (or cats!) performing a high-five and tag the post with #CatPawsitive, @JacksonGalaxyProject, and @HaloPets.

You can also tag your local animal shelter to nominate them as a recipient for the prize.
