Choo choo! All aboard the world’s first ever cat train.

This locomotive of the Yoro Railway Co Ltd in Ogaki, Japan played host to over 30 cats from the Kitten Café Sanctuary last weekend as a means of raising awareness for kitten adoption.

Some of the train passengers got to snuggle with some of the kittens, while others watched from their seats or played from the floor.

According to the organization, dogs are the most popular pet in Japan, but more and more people are choosing to adopt felines in recent years.

Reuters says that the number of Japanese cats admitted to shelters has dropped by around 70% in the last ten years, and cat culling has dropped by roughly 80%.
